As much of a country club as San Francisco is "San Fran"
It's for park days at Dolores and our Indian summers. It's for quick trips to Tahoe that somehow take eight hours even though your friend promised four. It's for Fleet Week, Outside Lands, Bay to Breakers and Santa Con too. It's bonfire season at Ocean Beach and that view from the Lincoln park golf course. The outdoor cinema at Alamo square and free concerts in Golden Gate park. More dogs than children, pride in the Castro, and street kids in the Haight. Concerts at the Palace of Fine Arts and the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset. Bike rides up Mount Tam and picnics there too. The view from Alice Marbles and the swimmers at Ghiradelli. Nudists at Baker Beach and the raves in the dunes.
It's dirty, overpriced, stupid foggy, and perfect. Our country club is all of the above and everything else in-between, made, designed, and distributed in San Francisco.
